Bill Clinton came to speak at the University of Miami recently. Just before his speech started, a hushed excitement rippled through the audience: “Barack’s here! Barack’s here!” Dozens of people stood up to catch a glimpse of the rockstar candidate entering the auditorium. Turns out something got lost in translation: it wasn’t Barack, it was The Rock, who lives in Miami and is about as common around town as Mayor Diaz or O.J. Simpson. This led to some very disappointed Miamians (”It’s just the Rock”). Mr. Rock seemed genuinely torn between beating them mercilessly and weeping openly.

Miamians get disappointed when it’s party cloudy. Now, if one announces over the radio that it’ll be partly sunny, then they’re out partying until 3 a.m. at South Beach.

I know you only update your site in time with the winter and summer solstices, but that was totally hilarious. :)

Jonathan said what I wanted to say beautifully. It was the University of Miami, but it’s funny to hear about people’s reactions to “celebrities.” The tiering system is great.

I think it’s pretty cool that people were disappointed that it was an actor and Mr. Obama. It might signal some positive change for America.
